Yes, I know. When you come to Peru, you have to visit Machu Picchu. It’s the jewel of the Inca Empire and source of great pride to all Peruvians. However, don’t head back home after only seeing this World Wonder. Perú has so much more to offer, and it’s worth spending a few extra days exploring. Here, I’ll show you just a few exciting activities and attractions you might never have heard of but will leave you breathless!
Archaeology
Peru was home to dozens of pre-Columbian cultures that came way before the Incas. One of the most powerful were the Moche in the northern coast. An impressive civilization with intricate rituals, rich spirituality, beautiful carved walls and painted pottery depicting their everyday lives, their gods and their sacrificial ceremonies. There are still several sites and impressive pyramids you can visit, including the first ever pre-Columbian female leader and priestess found in all of the Americas. 2 to 4 days will be plenty to visit the «Moche Route».

Adrenaline
If what you want is a rush of adrenaline, Peru won’t disappoint! You can fly above the Pacific coast paragliding over Lima, or swim with an 8k+ wild sea lion colony right off the coast of our capital city.
In Cusco, you can go to the highest bungee in South America or partake in an experience you won’t forget: the reverse bungee or slingshot. If you want something less heart pounding, then maybe kayaking on Lake Titicaca — the highest navigable lake in the World — or climbing up to a canopy walk above the trees in the Rainforest might be just right for you. Whatever level of adventure you’re looking for, Perú has something to offer. These are activities you can do within your itinerary without taking too much time off your current route.
So, when you’re ready to plan a trip to Perú, remember these incredible activities and give yourself some extra time to get the complete Peruvian experience!
